The Workshop draws on the same three datasets as the essay. What follows
are the caveats worth carrying with any chart you print.
- 1881 & 1891 are reconstructed
-
Decadal regional shares from 1901 scaled back against British-India-Empire totals
and adjusted to modern boundaries. Directional, not precise.
- Telangana is merged into Andhra Pradesh
- For time-series consistency across the 1901–2011 span. The post-2014 split is not represented.
- Dadra-Nagar-Haveli & Daman-Diu shown as one unit
- Merged by the Union in January 2020; the GeoJSON reflects the combined UT.
- J&K reflects India's official boundary claim
-
Includes PoK within J&K and Aksai Chin within Ladakh. The 2019 reorganization
into two UTs is represented.
- Latest census: 2011
-
The 2021 census was postponed. The next enumeration is currently signalled for
around 2027. Everything on this drafting table is at least fifteen years old.
